The Transportation Ministry organized a drive-through Covid-19 rapid testing for public transportation drivers in Central Jakarta on Monday.

Around 200 drivers of regular cabs (Blue Bird and Silver Bird), online motorcycle taxis (Gojek and Grab) and three-wheel bajajs gather outside the ministry's headquarters on Jalan Merdeka Barat since 10 a.m. for the test.

Soon their blood samples were taken one by one by health workers in full protective gear.

The director-general of land transportation at the ministry, Budi Setiyadi, said public transportation drivers are at greater risk of contracting coronavirus.

"These drivers carry passengers and deliver goods to different people every day. We need to test them to make sure they are healthy and free from Covid-19," Budi said while he monitored the testing.

The results of the tests were going to be delivered over WhatsApp on the same day.
