The indigenous people of Batui carry the eggs of the Maleo bird (Macrocephalon maleo) wrapped in palm leaves during the Tumpe ritual in Batui village in the district of Banggai, Central Sulawesi, on Monday. The Tumpe traditional ceremony has been carried out by the Batuis for more than 400 years. The eggs of the Maleo bird are given as offerings to show loyalty to the King of Banggai and his family.
