Jakarta Residents Queue For Oxygen Amid Covid-19 Surge

Jakarta. Residents carrying oxygen cylinders formed a long queue on Jalan Minangkabau in South Jakarta on Thursday, as the capital is facing oxygen shortage amid a dramatic surge in newly Covid-19 cases. 

They were waiting to get free refill into the empty tanks for relatives or friends self-isolating at homes with Covid-19.The donation was arranged by non-governmental group AQL Peduli for three days with a target of filling 100 oxygen cylinders per day.

Jakarta is home to 26 percent of Covid-19 cases across the country, whose daily tally has been overtaking that of India for the last four days.Indonesia set a new high in daily figures with 56,757 cases on Thursday, taking the country’s total to 2.7 million.
