Two exciting exhibitions by avant-garde artists Julian Rosefeldt and Melati Suryodarmo are on at Museum MACAN in West Jakarta from Feb. 28 to May 31.
Performance artist Melati's "Why Let the Chicken Run?" is a constellation of her best works from a 20-year career, which include the eponymous piece and the famous "I'm a Ghost in My Own House," a 12-hour long-durational performance where the artist grinds down hundreds of kilograms of charcoal.
Meanwhile, Berlin-based artist Julian Rosefeldt's "Manifesto" is a 13-screen multimedia video installation featuring Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett reciting some of the most famous artists' manifestos of the 20th century including the Futurist, Dadaist, Fluxus, Situationist and Dogme 95 manifestos.
