Mount Merapi Shows Its Might

FEBRUARY 13, 2020

Mount Merapi near the tourist town of Yogyakarta erupted again at around 5 a.m. on Thursday, sending a 2,000 meter-high column of volcanic ash into the sky. The volcano's last major eruption was in 2010, which killed at least 353 people. Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire where volcanic eruptions occur frequently.
