Navy Team Deployed to Evacuate Costa Mediterranea Crew Members
Jakarta. The Indonesian Navy deployed a special team to evacuate 99 crew members of MV Costa Mediterranea cruise ship docking at the Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta on Tuesday, amid coronavirus fear.
The crew members included 17 Indonesians and 82 of various nationalities including Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines, Colombia, Honduras, Peru and Ethiopia.
The evacuation process in the morning was completed quickly under very strict health protocols, in which all their belongings were disinfected by officials in full protective gears.
All the 99 crew members were transported to Mercure Batavia Hotel in West Jakarta where they will quarantine for the next two weeks after diagnostic tests for coronavirus. Anyone tested positive for the virus will be moved to makeshift Covid-19 hospital in Kemayoran.
The Italian cruise ship later continued its trip with remaining staff to Singapore.
