Jakarta. Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, the company that produces PaperOne office paper, sold in more than 70 countries, at its 1,750-hectare manufacturing complex in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau, is stepping up measures to prevent and control forest fires in its concession area.

The company said it has invested $6 million for the procurement of firefighting equipment and another $2 million to cover operational costs of its firefighting team. RAPP currently operates 215 water pumps to be used to extinguish potential fires.

RAPP's parent company, Asia Pacific Resources International, also known as the April Group, has been implementing a no-burn policy in its concession area since 1994.
