Tangerang. Cries were heard when Santo Antonius Dari Padua Elementary School in Serpong, South Tangerang, held their measles immunization routine on Monday.

Students accompanied by their parents arrived at school as early as sunrise. Some students were brave, but others were scared at the sharp syringe. They even cried and asked their parents to hug them. After receiving the vaccine, teachers will give a brief explanation to the parents of vaccine reactions such as mild fever.

Due to the pandemic, the immunization had to follow strict health protocols. Students and parents wore masks and face shields. Health workers were even dressed in complete protective gear.

The vaccine is given in August and November to ward off the contagious measles.
