Suspected Suicide Bomber Injures Himself as He Tries to Attack a Police Shelter in Central Java

Central Java Police have revealed the identity of a suspected suicide bomber who tried to attack a police shelter in Kartasura, Central Java, on Monday night.

Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Rycko Amelza Dahniel said the suspected bomber, who injured himself when the bomb he carried exploded in front of the police shelter, has the initials R.A. and lives with his parents in Kartasura.

The house has been searched and police said they have seized evidence related to the failed attack. 

After the explosion, videos of a heavily injured but still alive R.A. lying on the street went viral on YouTube and social media. 

The suspected bomber was taken to the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Kartasura, then transferred to the RSUD Dr. Moewardi Hospital in Solo.

No one except the suspected bomber was injured in the explosion.
