Jakarta. Police have detained several peoples, including teenage students suspected of planning to stage a protest against the Job Creation Law just outside the House of Representatives complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Wednesday.
Police officers questioned some of the protestors in the Perbakin building front yard, located behind the House's office complex.
The Jakarta police announced earlier that they would not issue any permit for demonstrations against the law in the capital. Since the House ratified the omnibus bill on job creation into law on Monday, police have deployed their personnel and barricaded several meeting points surrounding the House's complex in Palmerah, Bendungan Hilir, and Semanggi.
The so-called omnibus law has sparked a series of protests across the country by students and labor unions, who said the law would take away benefits they currently enjoyed.
