We Have Waited Long Enough: Afghan Refugees Demand Resettlement

Refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan rallied in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) building in Central Jakarta last week.
Women and children gathered by the alley at Jalan Kebon Sirih II before marching to the UNHCR building. Indonesian Police personnel —equipped with anti-riot vehicles— along with the municipal police had already stood guard around the UNHCR building since 9 a.m.
The rioters called for justice as they walked towards the building carrying posters with their demands for the Indonesian government and the UNHCR representative. They demanded a dialogue regarding their resettlement with the UNHCR spokesperson.
The refugees admitted that some of them have lived in Indonesia for a decade. But until now, they haven't gotten any explanation about their future.
