Italjet Unveils Affordable Dragster R200 in Global Premiere in Jakarta
Jakarta. Italian motorcycle manufacturer Italjet has unveiled a more affordable scooter model in Indonesia, introducing the Dragster R200 during the Indonesia International Motor Show as part of its push to broaden its presence in one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets.
The launch reflects Italjet’s broader ambition to tap Indonesia’s growing premium and enthusiast motorcycle segments while gradually expanding its retail footprint across the country.
Priced at Rp 88 million ($5,228) on the road in Greater Jakarta, the Dragster R200 becomes Italjet’s new entry-level offering and marks its global debut in Indonesia. Prior to the launch, Italjet’s cheapest model in the country carried a starting price of around Rp 150 million.
Chief executive Massimo Tartarini traveled from Bologna to Jakarta for the launch, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding in Indonesia.
“We received strong demand from Indonesian motorcycle enthusiasts who wanted to own a Dragster. That’s why we decided to develop the Dragster R200 at a more accessible price point,” Tartarini said. “This model is special because globally it is being launched first in Indonesia.”
Powered by a 189cc single-cylinder engine, the Dragster R200 is positioned as a strategic product that allows Italjet to lower prices by avoiding Indonesia’s luxury tax, which applies to motorcycles with engine capacities above 250cc.
For the Indonesian market, Italjet is also offering higher-displacement variants, including a 700cc model priced at Rp 495 million ($29,410), a 500cc version at Rp 395 million ($23,465), and a 250cc model starting at Rp 150 million ($8,910).
Currently, Italjet operates four official dealerships and service centers nationwide, located in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and two outlets in Bali.
