All Living Hostages Freed from Gaza: CNN
All of the remaining living hostages in Gaza have been freed from Hamas captivity and are back in Israel after two years of war, according to reports from US news broadcaster CNN on Monday. A group of 13 hostages has just been escorted across the border by the Israeli military, after a group of seven hostages was released earlier.
Helicopters carrying the first group of living hostages and their families leaving Re’im military base earlier in the day. The hostages are being transferred to Tel Aviv area hospitals, who have been preparing for their arrival.
There, they will have comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations, the reports said.
In another development, hundreds of people in Gaza are awaiting the release of 1,718 Palestinian detainees held in Israel since October 7, 2023. As part of the first phase of the US ceasefire agreement, 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences will also be released.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has now arrived at Israel’s parliament, where he has met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Later, he will address members of the Knesset as well as meet some of the families of the hostages.
Trump will then head to Egypt, where leaders from more than 20 countries will join a summit on Gaza’s future.
