Jakarta. Indonesia’s public works infrastructure is more than 90% ready ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus, although several repairs are still underway in parts of Sumatra and along the Jakarta–Merak toll road, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo said.

Dody made the remarks after a working meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission V at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“It can be said to be around 90% plus, but I wouldn’t say 100% yet,” Dody told reporters.

The minister noted that several sections still require repairs, including parts of the Jakarta–Merak toll road, particularly around kilometer 50.

Additional work is ongoing in parts of Sumatra, especially in West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Aceh, where roads were damaged following recent disasters.

Dody said road restoration in the Tarutung–Sibolga corridor in North Sumatra remains particularly challenging due to the severity of the damage.

“For disaster-affected areas, especially the Tarutung–Sibolga section in North Sumatra, the work is still quite heavy. But I have emphasized that, at the very least, the road must be free of potholes first. The repairs must be permanent; we cannot do half measures,” he said.

Meanwhile, repairs along the Pantura (northern coastal) route, one of the main arteries for Eid travelers, have been completed, with road patches carried out across western, central, and eastern sections.

Dody said the ministry is now focusing on maintenance to ensure patched roads remain passable through 10 days after Eid (H+10).

“That is why we have teams called road inspectors. Their job is to check road conditions every 10 kilometers every day,” he said.
