Jakarta Named Best Province in 2025 Governance Evaluation
Jakarta. Jakarta has been named Indonesia’s top-performing provincial government in the 2025 regional administration evaluation (EPPD), topping all provinces with a score of 3.672.
The award was presented during the 30th Regional Autonomy Day celebration at the Home Affairs Ministry Plaza on Monday. Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto handed the accolade to Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno.
The recognition adds to the early track record of Governor Pramono Anung and his deputy, underscoring continued improvements in governance and public service delivery in the capital.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs evaluation, Jakarta outperformed other provinces, including West Java, the Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, and South Kalimantan. At the regency and city levels, Banyuwangi Regency and Tangerang City took top honors.
Rano said the award reflects collective work across all levels of Jakarta’s administration.
“Today, Jakarta once again received the highest award for regional governance performance. This is the result of extraordinary teamwork with Governor Pramono Anung and all regional agencies that have worked hard to sustain this achievement,” he said.
He cautioned, however, that the recognition should not lead to complacency, urging officials to continue improving public services and maintaining performance standards in the years ahead.
Bima Arya, meanwhile, praised regional leaders for maintaining governance quality amid both domestic and global challenges. He stressed that three decades of regional autonomy must continue to be refined to stay on track.
“Authority held by regional leaders must be matched with capacity, responsibility, and integrity. Otherwise, regional autonomy could drift in an unintended direction. That is why the Home Affairs Ministry continues to work with regional leaders to ensure all aspects of governance are evaluated and improved,” he said.
He also highlighted three key challenges facing regional governments: navigating global geopolitical dynamics, implementing central government priority programs, and meeting rising public expectations.
The award is expected to encourage regional governments across Indonesia to continue innovating, strengthening governance, and delivering better public services.
