Jakarta. The State Palace on Thursday held the final rehearsal for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations as Indonesia geared up for the much-awaited festivities.

Indonesia will celebrate its 80th year of independence on Sunday. As the big day neared, the palace rehearsed some of the event's highlights, ranging from the flag-hoisting ceremony, performances, to the traffic control. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi told reporters that day that the preparations were going well.

"I think we are all ready," Prasetyo said at the presidential palace complex.

"The overall event, be it the attractions by the Indonesian Air Force and the entertainment, everything has gone according to plan," he said.

President Prabowo Subianto has also invited his predecessors, namely Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), to the upcoming ceremony.

"We have sent out most of the invitations, especially to our national figures. Praise be to God, almost everyone has confirmed their attendance," Prasetyo said.
