Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto recently unveiled his plans to visit the US to meet his American counterpart Donald Trump later this year.

Prabowo said that the state visit would likely take place in September or October.

"He [Trump] said that [I could visit] either in September or October," Prabowo told the press, shortly after landing in Jakarta from his weeks-long overseas trip.

Prabowo did not go into details on his state visit plans.

"But I think I would panic if he asks me to play golf. I'm very bad at golf. Perhaps I should take private lessons. I used to be great at golf, but now, not anymore,"  Prabowo joked.

The two leaders recently had a telephone conversation regarding Washington's looming reciprocal tariffs. Both countries had just reached an agreement with the tariffs on Indonesian goods getting lowered from 32 percent to 19 percent, with Jakarta making some trade concessions.

Under the trade deal, Indonesia has agreed to allow American goods to enter its market tariff-free. Indonesia has also promised to make some major purchases, including $15 billion worth of US energy, $4.5 billion in American agricultural products, as well as 50 Boeing jets.

"Praise be to God. We reached an agreement. We understand their national interests and vice versa. The tariffs have now dropped from 32 percent to 19 percent, if I'm not mistaken. ... I was still negotiating. I told him [Trump] that he was quite the tough negotiator," Prabowo said.
