Jakarta. Indonesia’s fintech and startup ecosystem took a step toward strengthening its talent base as the Fintech Association (AFTECH) and the Venture Capital Association for Indonesian Startups (AMVESINDO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the opening day of the Mandiri BFN Fest 2025.

The agreement focuses on developing certified training programs, industry-aligned curricula, and professional accreditation to prepare local talent for the growing demands of the digital economy.

Indonesia is projected to require more than 9 million digital workers by 2030, with the country’s digital economy expected to expand to $366 billion. Skilled professionals in fintech, venture capital, and financial innovation are seen as key to maintaining Indonesia’s competitiveness in the region.

AFTECH Secretary General Firlie Ganinduto said human capital remains the foundation of a resilient fintech ecosystem. “Fintech is growing very fast, and talent quality determines the industry’s sustainability,” he said. “This collaboration ensures the availability of training curricula and professional certifications that match industry needs and international standards, so Indonesian talent is truly ready to compete in the digital economy era.”

Under the MoU, both associations will work together on accredited training, masterclasses for startup acceleration, professional certification, governance and risk-management strengthening, responsible investment initiatives, joint publications, and investment promotion in fintech and venture capital.

AMVESINDO Chairman Eddi Danusaputro said talent needs in the venture capital and startup sectors are becoming increasingly complex. “Investors today are not only looking for fast-growing startups but also teams that understand governance, sustainability, and global-expansion readiness,” he said. “Through this MoU, we aim to help create talent and founders who are better prepared to meet global market needs — from fundraising and risk management to governance readiness for scale-up.”

The partnership also includes efforts to improve regulatory compliance, including legal guidance, regulatory outreach, and self-assessment tools for fintech firms, VC companies, and startups to strengthen operations and risk mitigation.

The collaboration will support AFTECH’s Digital × Real Sector Launchpad, an initiative designed to accelerate digital transformation in the real sector by connecting technology firms with traditional industries. With AMVESINDO’s support, the program is expected to foster sustainable innovation, widen access to funding, and enhance productivity.

The signing underscores both associations’ commitment to building a more competitive, inclusive, and integrated digital economy ecosystem while preparing Indonesian talent to lead in the global digital era.
