Astra Chief Reaffirms Support for Livable Housing Program with PKP Ministry
Jakarta. Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro reaffirmed Astra’s commitment to supporting the development of livable housing for communities through the Rumah Layak Huni (RLH) program, which was visited by Housing and Settlement Areas Minister (PKP) Maruarar Sirait in Tunjung Village, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Saturday.
The program has begun construction of 250 livable housing units in Banyumas and Garut as part of Astra’s efforts to expand social impact, with a target of developing up to 1,000 units for the public.
During the visit, PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait, accompanied by Astra Chief of Corporate Affairs Boy Kelana Soebroto and Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono, symbolically handed over house keys to two Astra-supported beneficiaries, Sakam Hendro Raharjo and Anwar Mualif.
Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro emphasized that the development of livable housing is part of Astra’s commitment to broadening social impact for communities.
“For Astra, providing housing is a first step in creating a conducive environment for the growth of future generations. We hope these homes will become centers of family resilience and accelerators toward a better future. We believe that with active collaboration from all elements of the nation, equitable social welfare can be achieved,” Djony Bunarto Tjondro said.
Astra’s groundbreaking for the RLH construction took place on August 20, 2025, marking the start of the development of 250 free housing units in two Astra Desa Sejahtera development areas --which are also Astra’s carbon forest locations-- consisting of 165 units in Banyumas, Central Java, and 85 units in Garut, West Java. The program, which aims to build 1,000 housing units, reflects Astra’s concrete commitment to contribute to nation-building.
In addition to physical development support, Astra also encourages active involvement of local communities throughout the construction process. This approach not only strengthens a sense of ownership and community cooperation but also fosters collective awareness to maintain their living environment in a sustainable manner.
Astra is one of Indonesia’s largest public companies, consisting of 302 subsidiaries, joint ventures, and associated entities, supported by more than 190,000 employees. Led by Astra President Director Djony Bunarto Tjondro, Astra has a strong track record in public and social contribution through its four pillars --health, education, environment, and entrepreneurship-- as well as nine foundations that contribute to Indonesia’s economic growth while supporting an inclusive and prosperous society.
Astra’s enthusiasm in supporting the Livable Housing program aligns with the company’s aspiration to prosper together with the nation and support Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
