Jakarta. State-run bank BNI continues to launch recovery initiatives in the flood-hit West Sumatra. This time, the bank has helped clear mud and flood debris at the Darul Aman Mosque in Jorong Toboh, Nagari Malalak.

The initiative enables the local people to comfortably pray at the mosque.

BNI's post-disaster recovery focuses on public facilities that are strategically important to the community's social and religious life.

According to BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo, the mosque plays a crucial role as a center for religious activities and a social space for the community.

"Through this activity, BNI hopes to help the community resume worship and social activities safely and comfortably, while also accelerating the post-disaster recovery process," Okki said.

BNI partnered with other state-owned enterprises (SOES) through the BUMN Peduli ('SOEs Care') program called "One Heart for Sumatra". Sovereign wealth fund Danantara coordinates this entire program. The companies have deployed numerous facilities and resources to back the cleanup process.

According to Okki, this cleanup initiative is also one of BNI's corporate social responsibility programs. BNI also mulls potential facility renovations and repairs to religious facilities, if necessary.

"We hope this support can help recreate a safe and comfortable environment, including for worship needs, so that people can return to their normal activities," Okki said.

BNI seeks to continue to play an active role in disaster management.
