Jakarta. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, has restored full banking operations across North Sumatra and West Sumatra following days of severe flooding and landslides. The bank deployed rapid recovery measures, including the use of global satellite internet at several branches to keep customer transactions running smoothly during the emergency.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the service restoration reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting communities during crisis situations.

“We want to ensure people can continue accessing financial services even in disaster conditions, because the continuity of financial transactions is essential for daily needs,” Okki said ilon Wednesday.

To maintain uninterrupted access, BNI activated satellite-based connectivity at branches in Gunung Sitoli, Sibolga, Pandan, and Teluk Dalam. All affected locations are now fully operational, enabling banking activities to resume optimally.

Okki reported that 12 BNI outlets previously impacted by flooding are now back to normal operations across Medan, Sibolga, and Gunung Sitoli. In addition, 47 ATMs that were temporarily offline due to water damage have been restored and are functioning again.

As part of its emergency response, BNI also opened limited operational services to assist residents affected by the floods. These special service windows were made available on November 29, 2025, at BNI Gunung Sitoli Main Branch, and on November 30, 2025, at BNI Sibolga and BNI Pandan sub-branches, ensuring customers could still meet urgent financial needs.

BNI said it will continue monitoring local conditions and preparing further measures to safeguard banking stability in affected areas. The bank reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe, reliable, and uninterrupted financial services for all customers, especially during emergencies when access to banking is most critical.
