CDI Group Expands Maritime Logistics with Launch of Boreas Chemical Tanker
Jakarta. Chandra Daya Investasi (CDI Group) is strengthening its logistics business line through the launch of a new 9,000 deadweight ton (DWT) chemical tanker, Boreas. Operated by its subsidiary Chandra Shipping International (CSI), the vessel is designed to serve liquid chemical distribution across both domestic and international routes, with operations targeted to commence in June 2026.
The launch of Boreas forms part of CDI Group’s ongoing strategy to enhance its maritime logistics system while improving the reliability of industrial distribution networks. As the energy and chemical sectors continue to expand across the region, demand for efficient, safe, and integrated logistics services has become increasingly critical to maintaining smooth industrial supply chains.
The addition of this vessel is expected to strengthen CDI Group’s maritime logistics capacity and service flexibility. Beyond supporting distribution needs within the Chandra Asri Group ecosystem, Boreas will also serve external customers across various industrial sectors. With an operational reach spanning trade routes from Asia to Europe, the vessel will play a role in facilitating the distribution of strategic chemical commodities while enhancing cross-regional trade connectivity.
The deployment of Boreas reflects CDI Group’s commitment to developing an integrated, internationally standardized maritime logistics infrastructure. With this fleet expansion, the company aims to further enhance its ability to deliver reliable distribution services, supporting both the operational needs of Chandra Asri Group and those of its industry partners. The investment aligns with CDI Group’s long-term vision to strengthen national industrial competitiveness through efficient and sustainable supply chain systems.
During its construction, CSI collaborated with Fukuoka Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a Japan-based shipyard with a global reputation for high-quality vessel construction. The partnership ensures that Boreas is built with modern technical standards, optimized operational efficiency, and safety systems that comply with international regulations.
Going forward, CDI Group will continue to expand its infrastructure portfolio through fleet development and broader logistics service integration. This move reinforces the company’s position as an industrial infrastructure solutions provider that not only supports internal group growth but also contributes to strengthening the national and regional industrial ecosystem.
