Jakarta. Krakatau Tirta Industri (KTI), the industrial water supply subsidiary of the steel maker Krakatau Steel, not long ago expressed its readiness to supply water for all industrial parks across the archipelago.

“Most people know that KTI only operates in the Banten Province. But we have entered KTI 2.0 in which we have expanded our business to supply clean water for people and industries across Indonesia,” KTI president director Alugoro Mulyowahyudi was quoted as saying in a press statement.

According to Alugoro, KTI builds a clean water infrastructure that integrates the upstream and downstream sectors. Some of KTI's clean water infrastructure projects include the demin water treatment plan for Mitsubishi Chemical Indonesia. As well as the demin water recycling plant and water treatment plants for tinplate producer Latinusa. KTI also worked on the wastewater treatment plant at Krakatau Posco.

KTI is also currently working on a water treatment plant with a capacity of 600 liters/second. This marks KTI’s second strategic investment after the construction of a seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. The construction has already begun in the middle of last year. It is expected to reach completion this year, according to Alugoro.

Alugoro also spoke of KTI’s plans to build new distribution networks spanning more than 2.5 kilometers in the Krakatau Steel industrial estate. The distribution network is expected to finish at the end of this year together with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation reliability through system automation.

“KTI will invest in various regions and is ready to collaborate with different stakeholders, particularly the sub-national governments and the regional drinking water firms, to develop clean water management,” Alugoro said.

“And not just within one industrial park. But we are even ready to support the water supply for an entire regency/city to meet the water needs of all walks of life today and in the future,” Alugoro said.

KTI initially started as the treatment unit of Krakatau Steel. Formed in 1996, KTI’s main business encompasses municipal and industrial water supply.
