Pertamina International Shipping Backs 2045 Golden Indonesia
Jakarta. Pertamina International Shipping, the subsidiary of the state-run oil company, recently reaffirmed its commitment to support the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision.
Chief Infrastructure Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono recently said that a competitive connectivity sector was crucial to advancing the national economy. Agus made the statement when kicking off the logistics forum ALFI Convex 2025 not long ago.
"We want Indonesia's logistics sector to advance even further. ... A multi-stakeholder collaboration is key to the success. The principle is that no one and no region is left behind. We want high economic growth accompanied by equity and sustainability," Agus said.
He then restated Indonesia's goal to boost its economic growth to 8 percent.
"We need to increase our GDP per capita to be equal that of developed countries. Prosperity and sustainability must go hand in hand," Agus said.
In response to these calls, Pertamina has taken several concrete actions to support the transformation of national logistics. Pertamina currently operates 108 vessels serving energy distribution throughout Indonesia and internationally. Pertamina International Shipping, also known as PIS, supports the transformation of national logistics and energy security by modernizing its fleet and improving operational standards in the world-class maritime logistics sector. This, in turn, enhances the capability and competitiveness of the national shipping industry in the international market.
According to PIS President Director Surya Tri Harto, t the improvement and modernization of the energy distribution and logistics fleet aims to strengthen distribution reliability and strengthen national energy security. PIS currently operates more than 90 domestic routes and 65 international routes, with consistently improving performance. As of the third quarter of 2025, PIS had transported 127.35 million kiloliters of energy equivalent both at home and abroad. PIS has developed its own vessels and terminals to digitalization to support operational excellence.
Several strategic programs have also been implemented, such as expanding non-captive markets by expanding international routes through three strategic offices and diversifying cargo types.
PIS aims to become a world-class integrated energy logistics and transportation company. By 2025, 84 PIS vessels had met the SIRE (Ship Inspection Report Programme) inspection standards, a standardized tanker inspection system designed to ensure safety. PIS has also implemented the Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA) standardized by the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) as a benchmark for fulfilling HSSE aspects at international terminals.
"As the integrated marine logistics sub-holding of the Pertamina Group, this transformation step demonstrates the company's commitment to strengthening operational reliability in distribution and national energy security. It also strengthens the competitiveness of the Indonesian fleet on the global stage," Surya said.
