Tax Office Logs 10.5 Million Tax Returns Amid Coretax System Glitches
Jakarta. Indonesia has recorded 10.53 million annual income tax (SPT) filings for the 2025 tax year as of March 31, 2026, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Finance Ministry reported.
“Progress in annual tax return filings up to March 31, 2026 has reached 10,530,651 returns,” said Inge Diana Rismawanti, Director of Counseling, Services, and Public Relations at the DJP, in a written statement on Wednesday.
For taxpayers with a January–December fiscal year, filings included 9,214,182 employee individual taxpayers, 1,100,876 non-employee individual taxpayers, 213,492 corporate taxpayers reporting in rupiah, and 159 corporate taxpayers reporting in US dollars
The tax office also reported that Coretax account activations have reached 17.5 million taxpayers, including 16.4 million individual taxpayers, 970,500 corporate taxpayers, 90,500 government institution taxpayers, and 227 e-commerce (PMSE) taxpayers.
Coretax, the DJP’s integrated tax system, is designed to improve reporting accuracy by automatically consolidating tax data, including withholding records, enabling taxpayers to file more transparently.
However, the system has been plagued by bugs and an unintuitive dashboard, making tax reporting a challenge even for Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. In response to these issues, Purbaya has extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to file annual returns to April 30, 2026, from the original March 31 deadline. The DJP has also waived administrative sanctions for late payment and filing of annual returns for individual taxpayers until April 30, 2026.
