Pupuk Indonesia Prepares 205,451 Tons of Subsidized Fertilizers for Eastern Indonesia
Makassar. Pupuk Indonesia recently announced that the company had prepared 205,451 tons of subsidized fertilizer for eastern Indonesia.
The state-owned fertilizer company said that the stock was already available at the buffer warehouses at the district/city level, distributors, as well as PPTS or kiosks in charge of distributing the product to the farmers.
Pupuk Indonesia's CEO for regional 4 Wisnu Ramadhani said that the supplies encompassed six types of subsidized fertilizers: urea, NPK Phonska, NPK special cocoa formula, organic, ZA, and SP-36.
"This fertilizer is ready for farmers to redeem to support increased productivity during the April-September planting season. We hope farmers will optimize this stock by redeeming it," Wisnu told a press briefing in Makassar on Wednesday.
By April 2026, the subsidized fertilizers reached 357,227 tons. This is approximately 21% of what the company had allocated for Region 4, or eastern Indonesia, which reached 1,689,794 tons this year.
This high fertilizer uptake in eastern Indonesia also contributed to the large national fertilizer absorption. During the same period, the actual distribution of subsidized fertilizer reached 2.85 million tons, or approximately 29% of the total allocation of 9.85 million tons.
Wisnu attributed the rapid pace of distribution to the government's ease of access for farmers through several changes.
The 2025 Presidential Regulation No. 6 simplifies the management of subsidized fertilizer distribution, making it more integrated and efficient. The government further refined the system by issuing the Presidential Regulation No. 113 of 2025.
"There are many conveniences provided. In addition to reducing the highest retail price of subsidized fertilizer by 20% in October 2025, farmers can also redeem subsidized fertilizer from the beginning of the year, eliminating the need for lengthy bureaucratic red tape," Wisnu said.
Pupuk Indonesia has also set up several facilities in eastern Indonesia to improve distribution, including 107 distributors (PUDs) and 2,207 delivery points (PPTS). These facilities are spread across Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Maluku, North Maluku, Papua, West Papua, South Papua, Central Papua, and Southwest Papua.
